    What should CBT clinicians know about the medications their clients are taking? This webinar will provide an accessible overview of antidepressants and antianxiety medications for psychologists and other non-prescribing mental health professionals. We will explore how commonly used medications work, the evidence for their benefits and limitations, and key considerations related to side effects, longer-term use, dependence, and withdrawal. Emphasis will be placed on practical knowledge that helps clinicians understand clients’ experiences, respond to medication-related questions, and collaborate with prescribers in the context of psychological treatment.


    objectifs d’apprentissage :

    1. Describe the major classes of antidepressant and antianxiety medications, their basic mechanisms of action, and their common clinical uses.

    2. Summarize their potential benefits, limitations, and adverse effects, including considerations related to longer-term use, dependence, and withdrawal.

    3. Identify medication-related issues relevant to CBT and describe strategies for discussing these with clients and collaborating with prescribers.
